# Visitor self-check-in at a kiosk

# Visitor self-check-in at a kiosk

Some buildings have a self-service kiosk or QR code in the lobby so visitors can check in without needing to speak to a receptionist. This is useful for buildings without a staffed front desk, or during busy periods.

## Check in with a code (pre-registered visitors)

If you were invited ahead of time and have your check-in code from SmartPass:

1. Find the kiosk screen or QR code in the building lobby.
2. Scan the **QR code** with your phone, or use the kiosk touchscreen directly.
3. Enter your **check-in code** (the short code from your SmartPass email).
4. Confirm your details and you are checked in. The person you are visiting is notified that you have arrived.

> **Tip:** You can find your check-in code in the SmartPass email you received when you were invited. Open it on your phone before you arrive so it is ready.

## Walk-in check-in (no prior invitation)

If you arrive at a building without an invitation, you can register yourself at the kiosk:

1. Scan the **QR code** in the lobby with your phone.
2. Enter your **name** and **email address** on the form that opens.
3. Select which **organisation** you are visiting.
4. Optionally, search for the **person you are visiting** by name. If you are unsure, you can skip this step.
5. Submit the form. You are checked in immediately and will receive a SmartPass email with your visit details.

The person you are visiting (if identified) is notified that you have arrived. If you don't have the ability to scan a QR code you can complete the process directly on the kiosk.
