Managing IT contacts
Managing IT contacts
IT contacts are the people in your organisation responsible for setting up and looking after
sign-on. They receive setup links and ongoing alerts — for example, a warning when an SSO
certificate is about to expire so it can be renewed before anyone is locked out.
Adding at least one IT contact is a required step before you finish setting up Single Sign-On.
You'll need administrator permissions for your organisation to manage IT contacts.
Good to know
- IT contacts are about communication only. Being listed as an IT contact does not grant any
extra access or permissions inside Smart Core Connect.
- All IT contacts are equal — there are no different levels or roles among them.
- You can add up to 20 IT contacts. We'd recommend at least two, so alerts never depend on a
single person.
Adding an IT contact
- Open Settings → Organisation → Authentication.
- In the IT contacts section, click Add contact.
- Choose how to add them:
- Organisation member — search for and select an existing member of your organisation by
name or email.
- Enter manually — type an email address (and optionally a name) for someone who isn't a
member, such as an external IT provider.
- Click to add. The contact appears in your list.
When a contact has been successfully registered to receive alerts, a green Synced badge appears
next to their name. This happens automatically — there's nothing more for you to do.
Removing an IT contact
- Find the contact in the IT contacts list.
- Click the delete icon next to their name.
- Confirm in the dialog that appears.
If the contact had already been registered to receive alerts, removing them here also flags them for
removal on the identity side — that final step is completed for you by the Smart Core Connect team,
so you don't need to do anything else.
Frequently asked
Do IT contacts need a Smart Core Connect account?
No. You can add anyone by email — including an external IT partner — even if they don't use Smart
Core Connect themselves.
Can I add someone as an IT contact so they can set up SSO?
No — being an IT contact only means a person receives alerts; it doesn't let them configure anything.
If you want someone else to do the hands-on setup, invite them to Smart Core Connect with
administrator permissions instead, and they can run the setup themselves (see *Setting up Single
Sign-On (SSO)* (link)).
What kind of alerts do they receive?
Operational notices about your sign-on configuration — most importantly, reminders when an SSO
certificate is nearing expiry so it can be renewed in time.
What's next?
With a verified domain (see Verifying your domain) and at least one IT contact in place,
you're ready to set up Single Sign-On — see Setting up Single Sign-On (SSO).
